Playgroup
For most children, this is their first time away from you. We take it slowly.
The year in essence
A two-year-old's first job here is to feel safe away from home. That takes time. The mornings are short and the routine barely changes from one day to the next, which is what settles a small child. Sand and water, songs, a good deal of moving around, a story before home time. What they learn in the end is that school turns out to be a good place to be.

What this year builds
Three pillars of Playgroup
Settling in slowly
Children separate from you at their own speed, and you are welcome to stay close by in the first few days.
Learning with their hands
Sand, water, dough, paint. Messy play like this builds the small muscles and the curiosity that come well before letters do.
First friends
In a small group, with nobody rushing them, children slowly work out that other children are worth knowing.
