Playgroup
For most children, this is their first time away from you. We take it slowly.
The year in essence
Playgroup is really about one thing: helping a two-year-old feel safe somewhere that is not home. The mornings are short and the routine stays the same from day to day, because that is what settles a small child. There is a lot of play with sand and water, some songs, some moving around, a story before home time. At this age, the real lesson is that school turns out to be a good place to be.

What this year builds
Three pillars of Playgroup
Settling in slowly
Children separate from you at their own speed, and you are welcome to stay close by in the first few days.
Learning with their hands
Sand, water, dough, paint. Messy play like this builds the small muscles and the curiosity that come well before letters do.
First friends
In a small group, with nobody rushing them, children slowly work out that other children are worth knowing.
