Program 4 of 4 · Ages 5+ years
Senior KG
Ready for big school, and still enjoying the learning.
The year in essence
By senior KG children are reading simple books, writing for real reasons, and working with numbers with some confidence. They can also stick with a project over several days. We keep protecting the things that got them this far, though: play, art, running around outside, and the sense that the learning belongs to them. That is what carries a child happily into Std. I.

What this year builds
Three pillars of Senior KG
Reading and writing
From blending sounds to reading short books, and writing for reasons that matter to them: labels, cards, lists, little stories.
Thinking in numbers
Number bonds, measuring, shapes and simple problem-solving, all grounded in things they can see and move.
Ready for a classroom
Sitting with a task, sticking with it, working alongside others, managing themselves. The quiet skills every Std. I teacher hopes a child arrives with.
